The 2017 Adelaide Fringe has a slightly proggy component this year with two different performances of "Tubular Bells" to choose from (Tubular Bells For Two and Tubular Bells - The Original) so tonight is a good time to hear some of that classic album; and Adelaide band Southern Empire has several gigs around Adelaide as part of the 2017 Adelaide Fringe. With much of Adelaide at the Glendi festival today and tomorrow, there's a musical detour to Greece including the band Aphrodite's Child, which in the early 1970's featured both the keyboard wizard Vangelis and the singer Demis 'Forever and ever' Roussos. It's happy birthday this weekend to guitarist Steve Rothery (Marillion) and Jimi Hendrix, and there's also a healthy serving from the musical legacy of the late Mick Fettes (Madder Lake).

This Saturday night, another expedition into the musical world of progressive rock from Australia and overseas, featuring a selection from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in concert in 2006. This weekend the Seasons Of Change Birthday Book features talented keyboardist Eddie Rayner (Split Enz, The Makers, Crowded House, etc). And since the "Super Moon" appeared high in our skies during this week, the Swedish troubadours Moon Safari will also make an appearance with their appropriate song Mega Moon. If you missed this week's "Super Moon", don't despair - there is another "Super Moon" scheduled for next month and the difference to the unaided eye is negligible.
